Remembering community pillar, Frank Hahn

CALLICOON  — Recently celebrated for 60 years of service in the Callicoon Fire Department, past chief, firefighter and engineer of the Fire Department, Frank Hahn passed away on Sunday morning, November 26. The Callicoon Fire Department noted that Hahn passed away peacefully with his wife, Carla, by his side.

Fellow Fireman Tom Baudendistel said during the 60-year service celebration that Hahn, even before he was promoted to Fire Chief in the 80s, had been known as a teacher, a mentor and someone to look up to within the fire service. Baudendistel had also said that Hahn never missed a call throughout his tenure.

Current Callicoon Fire Department Fire Chief, William Maxwell, spoke about Hahn’s dedication and said he would make calls all the way up until he got sick.

“He meant a lot to a lot of people,” Maxwell said. “He was very dedicated to the Fire Department and to the community. He taught a lot of people a number of things.”

Maxwell and many other community members agree to the sentiment that Hahn was a pillar in the community. The amount of condolences being offered to the family and friends of Hahn shows how much he meant to everyone he ever came in contact with.

“His leadership, dedication and wisdom will be greatly missed,” said the Callicoon Fire Department.

See page 2B for information on the services.
