Fallsburg hosts second annual Peace Sign Auction

Visitors were given an opportunity to view one of a kind pieces before the start of the 2nd Annual Peace Walk Auction.
FALLSBURG — The Town of Fallsburg successfully hosted its second Annual Peace Sign Auction last month. The event featured more than a dozen unique art pieces that were created by 16 participants, a significant increase from last year. They included local artists, students, and organizations who raised funds for the town's parks department.
“What we did last year and what we are doing this year is to try and raise money to increase art programs within the [Morningside] park,” stated Fallsburg Town Supervisor Steven Vegliante. “This year we really did a lot of structural improvements [to the park], and next year we're going to look at … doing a music series in the park next summer.”
The town is currently working on applying for a Levitt AMP Grant that provides funding to transform underused public spaces.
Each year, The Levitt Foundation awards $25,000 in matching funds for a town or city to provide a minimum of 10 weeks of a music series. According to Vegliante, “With the Levitt grant, we'll be able to do a lot more [for the community].”
For residents who were not able to attend the live auction, the town is looking to host an online sale for the remaining pieces that were not sold.
