The Annual Walk 4 Rides Is Almost Here!

LIVINGSTON MANOR - Each year, a mighty group of local community members organize an amazing walk beginning on Main Street in Livingston Manor. Last year, over 200 participants walked, jogged, ran or pushed strollers along the route in an effort to raise money for Ride 2 Survive. The money contributed is used to purchase gas gift cards, bus or taxi fare for those needing cancer treatment in our area.
As many locals know, the cost for travel to treatment from our area is exorbitant. The nearest radiation facility is in Middletown. If you consider that many patients must go for radiation up to 5 times a week for possibly five weeks or more, the money needed for travel adds up very quickly.
Both Walk 4 Rides and Ride 2 Survive members understand the expense one incurs while undergoing cancer treatment and want to help ease a portion of the burden our friends and neighbors carry. Since Ride 2 Survive's inception, over $120,000 has been given out in transportation related help thanks to organizations like Walk 4 Rides. Having the community come together to help each other raise funds is truly a phenomenal undertaking and one that everyone is invited to participate in. Last year, over $8,000 was raised and 100% went to Ride 2 Survive! It doesn't matter your age or where you are from, please come and join us for this amazing event!
Please meet at Café 43 on Main Street in Livingston Manor on Sunday, October 14th. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. You may register online through Walk 4 Rides Facebook page or at the event.
