HONESDALE, PA—Growing Older Together (GOT) will host a presentation on Senior Scam Prevention on Wednesday, July 18 from 3:-4 p.m. at the Earl J. Simons Senior Center, 323 10th Street. Social time will follow, and all are welcome to attend.
Senior Supervisory Special Agent Janene Holter from the PA Attorney General's office will present an engaging and informative program to educate older Pennsylvanians and their families on crime prevention.
A dynamic speaker, Holter brings awareness of the threat of fraud to seniors, teaching them how to avoid being victimized and making sure they know who to call when they are concerned about their safety and well-being.
According to the website Senior Planet (, “as of the beginning of May 2018 the Better Business Bureau added 12,894 scams added to its Scam Tracker?.” Many scams are repeated each year, and “identity thieves and scammers often try new twists on old scams that worked in the past. So far this year, a number of different and new scams have made the news.”
The mission of GOT is to give adult residents, aged 60 and older, in Wayne County, PA and western Sullivan County, NY both the practical means and the connections to live independently in homes of their choice.
