The 2nd Annual Catskills Fiber Festival

BETHEL - Bethel Woods Harvest Festival partners with the 2nd Annual Catskills Fiber Festival. The Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15.

Fiber festivals have a long storied history in the United States. The Maryland Fiber Festival is in its 47th year and the Sheep and Wool Festival is in its 39th year.
The Catskills Fiber Festival joins a list of renowned NY regional fiber festivals, i.e. the Adirondack Fiber Festival, and the Finger Lakes Festival. Envisioned by Rosehaven Alpacas, the Catskills Fiber Festival had its inaugural year at the Catskill Distillery in 2018. Seeing the feasibility of a new fiber festival in Sullivan County, Buck Brook Alpacas co-partnered and brought along Fiber on Main and Stoney Mountain Looms.
This year's festival will have fiber animals, vendors and demonstrations in weaving, spinning, drop spindling, knitting and crocheting. The festival demonstrates fiber to fashion and how sustainable fibers become clothing. The Small-town 4H will demonstrate the alpaca obstacle course, and they will also make felted soap. Cornell Cooperative will also be on site teaching needle felting. Sheep, goats, bunnies and alpacas will be on site.
