White Sulphur Springs - February 1

Jan 31, 2019

By Holly Fink - community correspondent

Birthdays celebrated in the past week, Lynne Barber, January 24, Rob Tyler the 26th and my grandson Chandler Fink the 29th.
Our fire department with mutual aid companies from Monticello, Liberty, Livingston Manor, Youngsville and Jeffersonville braved the bitter cold Monday evening battling a house fire on Mineral Springs Rd. for several hours.
This was the second major fire in White Sulphur Springs in less than a week. We all should be extremely proud and thankful to all our brave firefighters who sacrifice much to come to our aid when needed. I've mentioned before they are the backbone of our communities and we must continue to support them.
Thank you to the White Sulphur Springs Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary who also braved the cold providing hot and cold beverages and sandwiches to those at the scene and at stand-by duty. Not to be left out of our thanks New York State Police and MobilMedic. Thank you to Nick, Irene Tsicalos of the Liberty Diner for additional refreshments.
Please wear many layers of clothing in these brutal weather conditions. Frost bite I'm told can occur in 5 minutes in minus 25-30 degree temperatures.
That is it for the week. Until next timeā€¦Take a moment to cheer on the elderly and their well being. Call or text with your news.
