MONTICELLO — Monticello Police arrested Daniel Burgos, age 32, of Monticello, on Sunday, 3/19/17. Burgos was charged with Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree and Violation of Parole. At 2:30 AM Sunday, Monticello Police received an E 911 report of a male assaulting a female on a sidewalk near the Monticello Post Office on Broadway in the Village of Monticello. Responding officers found a 28-year-old female, who was an acquaintance of Burgos, bleeding heavily from the face and also suffering from a serious left eye injury. The female advised officers that Burgos had assaulted her.

Burgos was then taken into custody at the scene. The victim was transported to CRMC by Mobile Medic Ambulance for immediate medical treatment. Investigating officers were able to review nearby video surveillance that showed Burgos repeatedly punching, kicking and dragging the victim on the sidewalk and in the roadway by a parked vehicle.

Burgos was arraigned before Acting Village of Monticello Justice Leo Glass and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action.

Burgos is also currently on parole in NYS for a prior conviction of Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree.
