LOCH SHELDRAKE — A trailer at Foxcroft Village north of Loch Sheldrake was destroyed by fire on Wednesday.

Just before noon, Loch Sheldrake Fire Department was called to the scene, finding flames and smoke pouring from the home's windows.

“It was pretty much well-involved when I got there,” Chief Mike Ward confirmed.

Neither the occupant nor firefighters were injured, he added.

“They weren't home,” he said of the owner. “They were at work.”

The resident's dog and cat were inside when the fire started, said Ward, but someone from Foxcroft Village rescued them through an open window before the trailer burned to the ground.

Loch Sheldrake, Neversink and Hurleyville firefighters spent several hours extinguishing the blaze, while Liberty was on standby. MobileMedic was also on standby.

Ward said county fire investigators have not yet determined a cause. The homeowner, meanwhile, is staying elsewhere.
