MONTICELLO — “Stop the Violence, Stop the Gangs, Stop the Killings and Support Our Police” was the message of a peaceful march that took place on Broadway in Monticello on Saturday.

The demonstration was organized by Pastor James Hinton of the Heaven Bound Church in Monticello, and attracted a couple dozen participants, who marched from the Heaven Bound Church on Broadway to Rotary Square.

Carrying signs that said "Stop the Violence," “God Saves" and "All Lives Matter," the marchers were spreading a message of peace and community.

Also taking part in the march were Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff and Undersheriff Eric Chaboty.

Village of Monticello Police Chief Robert Mir offered a message to show support and spread the message that law enforcement is there to support and work with the community to help stop the violence.
