MONTICELLO — According to YO1 Wellness Center Marketing Manager Abhiruchi Jain, there will no golf played this year at the historic Kutsher's Country Club.

On Monday, March 11, a public hearing was scheduled with the County of Sullivan Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and Veria Lifestyle Inc. on a tax benefit application to help with the redevelopment.

Moments before the public hearing was to start, Veria withdrew their application.

“We do not have plans to re-open Kutsher's Country Club this season as our focus in entirety is on YO1 Wellness Center,” said Jain. “Internal discussions are on-going, and we plan on maintaining the Kutsher's property at its current state. Please stay tuned.”

Veria Lifestyle Inc., are the owners of the YO1 Wellness Center, and YO1 Country Club Inc., and they want to continue renovating the Kutsher's Country Club sometime in the future.

“This is a historic property, and when we do it, we have to do it right,” said Director of Operations Gaurav Navin. “We are still maintaining the course and will keep most of the staff for any visits [by dignitaries or officials].”

Veria was requesting $106,699 in Real Property Tax Abatement and $21,208 for Sales and Use Tax Exemption.

According to the withdrawn IDA application, the project was to cost $589,100.

The benefits that can be received by the IDA would have helped with the construction, reconstruction, installation and equipping of an 18 hole golf course which included temporary and permanent structures.

The course could support a pro shop, golf cart storage, driving range and an indoor/outdoor banquet hall according to the Notice of Public Hearing from the IDA.
