“[The] Sullivan Catskills are on the map! There is so much going on and so many things to do here now,” said Roberta Byron- Lockwood, President and CEO Sullivan County Visitors Association during the recent Brochure Exchange Barbecue for their members and visitors.

Usually held during National Travel and Tourism Week an annual tradition for the United States travel community it's used to celebrate the value travel has for the economyand business.

There was a hospitality training program which began at 1:30 p.m. at the Hurleyville Arts Centre. Soon after, the party began near the trailhead with a BBQ menu provided by Big Kev's BBQ.

The parking lot was filled with cars with their trucks open displaying brochures, business cards and takeaways.

The county has a recent jump in business and commerce and that was present on Thursday afternoon in Hurleyville.

Everyone was at the BBQ from county legislators, local business owners to mom and pop shops. Bold Gold Media Group provided music and did a live broadcast during the event with DJ Paul Ciliberto and DJ Marvelist Eddie Wilson providing the backtrack to the day.

“It's an efficient way for businesses to get together and swap brochures and business cards,” said Lockwood. Over 100 people came to the BBQ before the skies opened up and the rain poured down.

“This is a place for businesses to meet face to face,” added Lockwood.

The theme this year was Then and Now. Lockwood noted, “And you see what the Center for Discovery has done in Hurleyville, from the arts centre to everything else. This is a prefect example.”
