LIVINGSTON MANOR - Walk 4 Rides Sullivan County has raised money for incredible causes for nearly two decades. Last year, organizers decided to benefit a local organization in Ride 2 Survive. On Sunday morning, Livingston Manor's Main Street was packed with people in pink to raise money and show support for such an important organization.

Ride 2 Survive-Sullivan County, Inc. is a community-based volunteer organization whose mission is to assist with transportation expenses for Sullivan County residents or those receiving treatment locally, who are under the care of an oncologist and who have been diagnosed with cancer or pre-malignant conditions.

Ride 2 Survive Co-Founders Glorianne Ellison and Kara Passante were humbled by the community support.

“We wouldn't be what we are without the community,” Ellison said. “This is tremendous. I'm humbled each and every day. Look at this...It's wonderful. It's Sullivan County at its best.”

Passante added, “It means everything. Without this support you can feel alone, and when alone, you feel hopeless,” while also saying the large number of attendees at Sunday's event are “hope in a physical form.”

Kim Taggart, one of the Walk 4 Rides organizers, described the best part of the event: “Everybody coming out and people being so generous. It's a fun walk.”

At the end of the day, approximately $5,700 was raised.
