Metzger hosts open house at Liberty office

LIBERTY — Residents in Liberty and throughout Sullivan County can now visit the satellite offices of their local state senator and U.S. congressman under the same roof.

On Monday, June 10, State Senator Jen Metzger (D, NY-42) welcomed constituents, local elected officials and community organizers during an open house in the third floor office space of the Left Bank Art Gallery at 59 North Main Street in Liberty.

“We love Liberty and we feel so connected to Sullivan County,” Metzger said. “We want to have a regular presence in this community and it's great that we can share office space with [U.S. Congressman] Antonio Delgado.”

The event was well attended by officials on both sides of the political aisle, including Chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature Luis Alvarez, District 2 Legislator Nadia Rajsz, Village of Jeffersonville Mayor William Thony and Town of Liberty Supervisor Brian Rourke. Also in attendance were representatives from numerous local businesses and organizations, including Sullivan 180, New Hope Community, Sullivan Renaissance, Sullivan County Visitors Association, The Arc Sullivan-Orange, SYDA Foundation, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Catholic Charities of Orange and Sullivan Counties and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County

“No matter what your politics, Liberty is fortunate to have Congressman Delgado and Senator Metzger locate their offices in our community,” said Rourke. “They both seem to have a natural way with people and I believe our residents will have better access to their state and federal elected representatives. This will also allow the Congressman and Senator to form strong relationships with local elected officials and see firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing Liberty and Sullivan County in general.”

The open house featured artwork generously on loan from the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.

Regular operating hours at the Liberty office are Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Assistance is available in both English and Spanish. During operating hours constituents can call (845) 292-0215 to speak with a member of staff. The office (which is accessible by elevator) is located on the third floor of the Left Bank Art Gallery, at 59 N. Main Street in Liberty.
