Major Delaware River cleanup being organized

NARROWSBURG — As the 50th anniversary of Earth Day approaches in 2020, the Upper Delaware Council, Inc. (UDC) hopes to help organize a first-ever, coordinated litter cleanup event centered on the land surrounding the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River.

The federally-designated river corridor encompasses parts of 15 towns and townships located in five counties and two states (NY and PA).

The UDC is arranging a roundtable meeting to gather interested organizations, groups, agencies, businesses, and individuals to discuss the feasibility of holding an Upper Delaware River Corridor Clean-up.

Contact information is currently being collected to direct invitations for the introductory meeting, including those who sponsor existing litter cleanups to share their insights and all who may wish to get involved in the planning.

Please send names and an outreach method to the UDC at P.O. Box 192, 211 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764, e-mail info@upperdelawarecouncil.org by July 10. The meeting is anticipated to occur later this summer at the centrally-located Council office.
