Jeffersonville's Main Street Stage gets musical

JEFFERSONVILLE — Right now, the Jeffersonville Main Street Event Stage may be best known for being off the beaten path, despite being in the heart of Jeffersonville. Situated on the village's Main Street (across from the Jeffersonville Post Office) behind a vacant building which formerly housed a number of businesses that have moved on to other quarters, the site will hopefully gain some recognition in the coming weeks.

It was recently the setting for a rock concert presented by Yesah, a record label started in 2013 by Noah Barker, in a fundraiser for the local JEMS beautification group.

Made in Motion, the group composed of bandleader Johnny Vitulli, Noah Barker and Rob Cahill, was one of the acts that performed at the inaugural event. The band has recently been in the studio working on a soon to be released CD with Grammy winning producer Fran Cathcart and Billboard producers Mike G. and Kathy Sommer.

Also performing at the concert was Big Sun, also known as Noah Barker, fusing elements of pop, electronic, and jazz into song.

Featured artists were Josh Deitchman and Sarah Berman, both from Monticello.

The inaugural show was part of a series of shows to be held on the Main Street Stage, sponsored by JEMS, and more are scheduled to take place throughout September.

The next event in the series will be a jazz concert to be held on Saturday, September 6, from 5-8 p.m. featuring renowned drummer Thurman Barker, pianist and vocalist Kazzrie Jaxen, and vibraphonist/drummer Mathew Hoffman. It will include a special Teremin performance by Bill Thony and Jazzmosis from Rock Hill. Admission is $10 per person. This will be an open air concert and you are encouraged to bring your own chair and invite your family and neighbors.
