MONTICELLO — On Monday, November 23, Monticello Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 56 Franklin Ave. in the Village of Monticello.

Engine 22-11 arrived on scene reporting a working structure fire in a residential structure. The structure, a single family residence in which the family was home at the time of the fire, all were evacuated safely. The fire was contained to the roof and ceilings, however the residence sustained extensive fire, water and smoke damage.

The fire, being investigated by Monticello Fire Dept., Monticello Police Dept. and investigators from Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, is not considered suspicious and believed to be electrical in origin. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes and firefighters remained on the scene until just after midnight on Tuesday morning.

Mutual Aid was called from Rock Hill and Forestburgh Fire Departments, Town of Liberty FAST Team and Mobilemedic EMS. Hurleyville Fire Department was on Standby in Monticello. No one was injured.
