LIVINGSTON MANOR — The court is ready, the dancing shoes are shined up and everything's in place for the 58th Annual Livingston Manor Ice Carnival.

Sponsored by the Livingston Manor Rotary Club, the Ice Carnival features one night and two days of fun and festivities.

Events begin this Friday evening, January 20 with the dance held at Livingston Manor Central School (LMCS) from 6:45 - 9:45 p.m.

The crowning of the Carnival Queen and King will be held at 9:00 p.m. with voters choosing from the royal court members: Lindsay Fredenburg, Josh Evans, Abigail Gorr, Wyatt Fulton, Kimberly Simon, Evan Madison, William Maus and Jimmy Perez.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Annual Snow Sculpture Contest begins (conditions permitting). This year's theme is “Snowmen on Broadway.” Participants from Livingston Manor Central School classes 9 through 12 will be creating sculptures on the following themes: Class of 2017 - Cats, Class of 2018 - Wicked Cool, Class of 2019 - Snowla, and Class of 2020 - Lion King.

The snow sculptures will be constructed at Rotary Park on Pleasant Street. Hot Chocolate will be provided for participating students and advisors, and judging will take place at 3 p.m. by prominent community VIPs.

Sunday offers plenty of activities beginning at 12 noon with snowshoeing, race registration (races will take place after the skating exhibitions), and horse drawn sleigh rides (conditions permitting).

Also at noon, free hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served to all the kids at the Rotary Dog House.

At 1 p.m. LMCS Senior Kaleigh Gonzalez will perform the National Anthem, followed by the announcement of the Snow Sculpture Contest winners, the Parade of the Carnival King, Queen and Court around the Walter Seeley Memorial Skating Rink, Skating Exhibitions featuring nationally and regionally ranked amateur figure skaters from the Skating Club of New York: Jonathan Hunt and Carly Donowick.

Skating Races for all age categories begin at 2 p.m. with Olympic-style medals going to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each race. Following the races, there will be a presentation of trophies, and at 3 p.m. there will be free skating for everyone.
