MONTICELLO - The Town of Thompson Democratic Committee announced in a press release that they've endorsed Heather Berg of Monticello for the position of Thompson Receiver of Taxes.

Berg was contacted by Supervisor Bill Rieber and was appointed to the position by the Thompson Town Board on January 7. She is administering the current tax collection process. Berg will be on the ballot in November to fill the remaining three years of the four year term of former Receiver of Taxes Doreen Huebner, who is currently the Sullivan County Deputy County Clerk.

Berg has a background in municipal accounting and finance including past Treasurer of the Village of Monticello for several years and Compliance Officer for the Recovery Center in Monticello. Most recently, Berg was the Accounting Supervisor for the SYDA Foundation in Fallsburg.

Beginning on February 25, Berg will be gathering signatures on her political petition in order to place her name on the November ballot in Thompson.
