SULLIVAN COUNTY -- Preliminary data for July 2019 released by the New York State Department of Labor on Thursday once again has Sullivan County leading the state in year-over-year private sector job growth, up 16.3 percent. The second closest county in terms of job growth is Columbia County at 3.4 percent.

The two leading industries for Sullivan County's year-over-year job growth were Leisure and Hospitality (+3,100) and Education and Health Services (+500).

In terms of the entire Hudson Valley region, the private sector job count of 826,400 is the highest employment count on record for any month (series dating back to 1990). The over-the-year picture remained positive, with five sectors adding jobs for the 12 months through July 2019 while four reported job losses.
