Nob Hill project moves forward

THOMPSON — After three years in the planning stages, the Nob Hill Country Club renovations will start to get underway soon in the Town of Thompson.

According to Jay Zeiger, counsel for the project, the developer's contract has been approved by the Thompson Planning Board, and they are ready to get started.

According to Zeiger, the renovations are still waiting for approval from the NYS Health Department and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

In the meantime, the Town Board of Thompson and Nob Hill Country Club Inc. are discussing the idea of creating a Transportation Corporation for the project and how exactly the town will be involved in the corporation.

Zeiger stated that by law if a development has one line of water and sewer feeding two parcels then a transportation corporation must be created.

According to Zeiger, the lot will be subdivided into two parcels and will need water and sewer additions. The water source for the development will come from Kiamesha Artesian Spring Water Company.

Furthermore, the project will involve the demolition of some of the cottages while others will be renovated or built new.

There are currently 62 cottages and after the renovation there will be 59. Some of the cottages will be scaled down, going from a two family unit cottage to a one family unit cottage.

The project will get underway once permits are issued and, according to Zeiger, the development would like to have some of the cottages ready for the summer.

Equally important, the development has to settle how water and sewer will be handled at the development with the Town of Thompson before the project is finished.
