SULLIVAN COUNTY — Tuesday's village elections were only a nail-biter in Jeffersonville, thanks to some non-incumbents in the running.

The villages of Liberty and Monticello had no races this year, and Woodridge holds its election in November.

Except in Jeff, all results are unofficial, as absentee ballots have yet to be counted. But since Bloomingburg and Wurtsboro had uncontested races, all winners are listed in bold.

Bloomingburg

Incumbent Trustee Aaron Rabiner was unopposed, earning 121 votes. At least 48 write-ins have yet to be tallied.

A duplicate road name and the resulting discrepancy in voter rolls caused some confusion, but ultimately, all duly registered voters had the opportunity to vote, confirmed the Sullivan County Board of Elections.

Jeffersonville

Mayor Bill Thony was unopposed in his re-election bid, earning 30 votes. However, there were four write-ins: two for Bill Chellis, one for Greg Brewer and one for Barbara Winfield.

Trustee Kathy Herbert successfully ran for re-election as well, garnering 22 votes. The seat of retiring Trustee Barbara Winfield will be taken by Lisa Parkinson, who also received 22 votes. Unsuccessful trustee candidates were Kathleen Hernandez (16 votes) and Brad Haberli (9 votes).

Wurtsboro

Incumbent Mayor Mickey Maher and Trustee Frank Sisco were both voted back into office by 32 votes apiece. They were unopposed.
