We all know that 2021 has got to be better than 2020. So many people lost their lives in 2020 both as a result of the pandemic or brutal accidents. My New Year's resolution is to try to make my small world better for myself and others.

How can I do that I'm wondering? One of my past resolutions was not to make any more resolutions. That leaves no room for failure it would seem. But I've even failed to do that. I've seen others fail as well. As they say, if you fall off the wagon, just get up and get back on it.

Years ago I was devoted to aerobic dance at the Y. For over 30 years I attended the class three times a week. I loved it so did not need to resolve to do it. Shortly after the first of the year our class suddenly enlarged. Old timers who preferred a certain spot on the floor lost it to newcomers. No need for them to lose it over this because as the year wore on there were many drop outs. One could almost predict who they would be. Women who showed up with a lot of makeup, jewelry, hair done just so and cute outfits didn't make the grade.

My repeated resolution to be on time doesn't make it through the first week. One system I had to overcome this was a good one. If I was five minutes late for church, for instance, I would have to be 10 minutes early the following week. Since I had the problem solved I would start to relax and gradually slip back into my old habit.

This week I am required to get my column in a day early because of the holiday on Friday so I have to end this now before it becomes tomorrow. Happy New Year everyone!
