Allan Sten Wolkoff, age 78, of Rock Hill, NY, passed away on January 16, 2021 at Garnet Health Center in Middletown of Covid-19. He was born October 10, 1942 in the Bronx to Frank Morea and Jean Zablo Wolkoff Morea and relocated to Rock Hill 50 years ago. He retired from the structural steel and general construction field having worked on many commercial buildings in Sullivan County including Cable Vision Industries Headquarters, Frontier Insurance Headquarters, Sullivan County Community College, and most of the County's famous resort hotels.

He was a member of the Rock Hill Fire Department for 50 years having held the offices of chief, president and commissioner. He was currently the secretary and treasurer for the Rock Hill Fire District. He was a charter member of the Rock Hill Business and Community Association and served 10 years as a member of the Monticello Central School District Board of Education. He was appointed Historian of the Town of Thompson in January 2014 to the present.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith Morse Wolkoff, at home; his children Roger Wolkoff (Anne) of Madison WI, Jay Wolkoff (Lori Anne) of Silver Spring, MD, Paul Wolkoff (Marcy) of Decatur, GA, Jody Mitchell (Debbie) of Rock Hill and Jill Mitchell Holland (Loren) of Kauneonga Lake; his brother Marc Morea (Cathy) of New Windsor, NY, his sister Phyllis Magarian of North Palm Beach, FL and sister-in-law Judie Wolkoff of Mount Kisco, NY; his beloved grandchildren, Bethany, Rebecca, Nathaniel, Mackenzie and Allan James “AJ”, who meant the world to him and Judy. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, and finally, by his family and friends of the Rock Hill Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Eugene Wolkoff, and his brother-in-law Nazareth Magarian.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU Unit at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown for all their care and support in making him comfortable during his final days.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. There will be a private family service at 5 pm. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home, and facemasks are required. Interment in the Rock Hill Cemetery and a celebration of Al's life will be held at a later date.
