Anthony R. “Tony” Sinacore of Liberty, NY, a retired educator and longtime area resident, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Garnet Health Hospital in Middletown, NY. He was 77.
The son of the late George A. and Aurelia Barberio Sinacore, he was born June 19, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY.
Tony proudly served Our Country in the US Navy for 25 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He received numerous awards while in the Navy including National Defense Service Medal, Armed Services Reserve Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Award.
He served as an Assistant Principal at Liberty Central School District, retiring in 2017 and later served as a Board Member at Liberty after retirement. He was a member of the Sullivan County BOCES Board of Education, the President of the Sullivan County School Board Association, and Liberty Rotary Club.
Tony taught as an Adjunct at SUNY Sullivan and tutored in the Learning Center. At the time of his passing, he was working on his Doctorate at Gwynedd Mercy University in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Radai Sinacore, at home, a daughter, Christine Sinacore of Los Angeles, California; a brother, George A. Sinacore and his wife Diane of Massapequa Park, NY; a sister, Mary Lou Peers and her husband Randy of Monticello, NY; his stepchildren, Cory Radai of Liberty, NY and Adam Radai of Liberty, NY and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2024, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main Street, Liberty, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
