Anna placed 7th in public school competitors and 9th in the Federation after posting a PR time of 10:01.79. As a freshman, Anna already has the third fastest time in school history and took nearly 14 seconds off of her personal record at the State meet.
Gabriella Almonte, a sophomore from Monticello, competed in the 55m dash, in which she posted a time of 7.48 and finished 26th in the state.
Monticello’s Tyrese Shaw competed alongside other Section IX runners in the relay team. Shaw ran the second leg of the Boys 3400 Meter Distance Medley Relay. The Section IX team finished fourth and his leg, Shaw ran a 22.63 second time.
The State Championship meet marked the conclusion of the Winter season for all of the runners, jumpers and throwers. Many of them will be returning for the outdoor season that will be kicking off in the next few weeks.
