Catskill Cuisine makes food-rich return

BETHEL – For the second year in a row, the three-day long, food-tastic Catskill Cuisine took the weekend by storm in a flurry of fresh food, popping pastries and a consortium of culinary masterpieces, all aimed at showcasing the Catskill region’s distinct cuisine and dietary culture.

Put on by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (SCVA), in partnership with Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, foodies couldn’t help but come back for seconds this year from May 10 to 12. The first day of the event found its home at Resorts World Catskills, a featured sponsor and presenter of the weekend’s events alongside elite partner, Labelle Farms Inc.

Saturday saw thousands of food lovers to the historic grounds at Bethel Woods, with over 49 vendors offering new tastes to try.

Festival-goers were free to walk the grounds to satisfy their hunger for all the day could offer, which included cooking demonstrations and tastings from A-grade Food Network Celebrity Chefs, live music, best-seller book signings with photo ops and more.

In a celebration of both food and drink, many local breweries and distilleries also made an appearance to showcase the varied taste of the area.

“We are recognized all around for this particular event as a destination for great food, great experiences and a great story,” said Roberta Byron-Lockwood, SCVA President and CEO. “Catskill Cuisine is a spotlight for what is in our backyard as a food destination.”

“A lot of our local people stepped up and supported us. It was just a great experience all the way around. I think it’s become a Sullivan Catskills tradition – it’ll be back next year!”
