Barbara Joan Fontana, 87, of Monticello, New York and Hobe Sound, Florida passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. Barbara was born on March 12, 1938 in Monticello, New York to the late John and Della Smalls. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Ted Fontana for 67 years . Barbara worked for Weiss and Costa and Peter Ng as a legal secretary. She was highly regarded by all who came in contact with her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her pastime was bird watching, and she knew the names of all, but mostly she was an avid gardener where she spent every day both in Monticello, New York and her winter home in Hobe Sound, Florida. Barbara is survived by her husband Theodore Fontana. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Della Smalls, her two brothers, Richard Smalls and Raymond Smalls. Barbara is survived by her sister Shirley Hornbeck (Wayne), her sister Patsy Resnick (Billy Resnick), her sister-in-law Janet Smalls (Art Salomon),nephew Dan Smalls (Emily), niece Margo Smalls (Mike), nephew Josh Altman (Jaed), nephew Ryan Smalls (Anda), and great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her son by choice Jeremy Siegel whom she spoke of always with great affection. She will be remembered for her wit and her ability to befriend all who came in contact with her. Funeral arrangements are private. Donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
