Bernice Weissmann of Callicoon Center, NY, the retired Postmaster of the Callicoon Center Post Office, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Achieve Nursing and Rehab Center, Liberty, NY. She was 92. The daughter of the late Gottfried and Olga Anderson Carlson, she was born December 3, 1929 in Roscoe, NY. She was the widow of Eugene "Gene" Weissmann, Mr. Weissmann predeceased her on April 4, 2018.

Bernice was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Callicoon Center Fire Department, the Sullivan County Postmasters Association and was a 10 year employee of the Sullivan County National Bank.

She is survived by her children: Wendy Czajak and her husband Tom of Minoa, NY, James Weissmann and his wife Evelyn of Callicoon Center, NY and Beth Hahl of Callicoon, NY. Three grandchildren: Christine Rosario and her husband Angel of Denver, CO, Colleen Heggelke and her husband Steven of Glastonbury, CT and Melissa Hahl and her husband Kevin of Cochecton, NY and by her great-grandson Garrett Heggelke and by her sister Esther Roberts and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her brothers Walter, Robert, John, Albert, and David Carlson and by her sisters Olga Denman, Anna Victoria Loucks, and Beatrice Carlson, and by her sister-in-law G. Ruth Griffin.

A graveside service will be held on Monday December 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Callicoon Center Cemetery, Callicoon Center, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Callicoon Center Fire Department, PO Box 144, Callicoon Center, NY 12724 or to the Callicoon Center Cemetery Association, C/O George Schmidt, PO Box 47 Callicoon Center, NY 12724.
