August 17 - Birthday wishes to Karen Schaub-Murtagh, Libby (Scardino), Kylie Halperin, Courtney Scott, Mariaina Ponce, Asher Rhulen, Christine and Tony Lubniewski, Hope Roche and Akka.

Anniversary wishes to Claudia and Gerry Dietz and Joanie and Barry Scheinfeld.

Best wishes to Kathy Hochul for a smooth transition and becoming our first woman Governor of NY State. Congratulations to Allan Holland, a local BMS enduro car driver, who had his first win at OC Fair Speedway recently. Thank you to Henni Anker and Joanne Gerow for all they do! Kudos to John Wing, who at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, initiated the games’ althlete finale entrance to be casual and nationally mixed, ‘walking in as one nation’. That’s the spirit!

Personally, I’d like to mention that sons, Tyler and Logan, had a great Democrat Golf Tournament weekend and visit home. Brother Bart and Trudy were in Bethel for a visit and a side trip to Vermont. We surprised them with a great night at Zac Brown, too. Thank you to the Fosters for their Sunday hospitality.

Public Service: We’re learning that Covid and Delta don’t discriminate and it’s time to vaccinate! At least, mask properly. Info: SCPublic Health- 845-292-5910 Mental Health-292-8770. To Do: Send me your news and events. Use Townofbethelny.us website for local information.

Business Watch: It’s sad local news that The Fat Lady Cafe will be closing their doors for good. There are obvious reasons, but a serious lack of help, a recent +Covid test, the long covid closing and now after re-opening, looming again, makes the decision clear. Judith had a great run and has done so much for Bethel business and our community. This Kauneonga ‘Restaurant Row’ anchor will be missed, more than you know! She deserves tons of praise!
