Condolences to the family of Shannon Cross Stein.

Kudos to the gymnasts, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Simone Biles and Maggie Nichols for coming forward at the Nassar-FBI Senate Judiciary Committee hearings. White Lake Fire Co. announced their recent state-of-the-art rescue boat arrival. It could already be in service this week. That’s great news!

To Do: Send me your news. Use Townofbethelny.us for information. Locally, Bethel offers ‘Dance it Off’ on Thursdays at 6pm at the Town Park Pavilion (Duggan, when temps cool). There will be a weekly Running program for youth, 6-12 yo, at the Forest Reserve on Sundays at 10am. Family Fun Day is scheduled for the 25th at the Town Park to work on the trails at 10 a.m.

Cunningham Family Farms is open weekends with corn maze, hay ride, activities and a Harvest Market with fall decorations! (583-4083, Sat-Sun 11-5p).

Business Watch: Apply for work at local businesses that still need employees. Contact the Bethel Business Association, Chamber, or NYS Employment office for advice and who is hiring. For NYS Small Business Grants: apply at (esd.ny.gov) or Nysmallbusinessrecovery.com. Look for ‘BBA Happy Hour Socials’ in the near future at area restaurants and businesses to showcase and support them and the opportunity for you to network. Plan to attend these ‘getting to know you’ events in October and November, open to BBA Members and the public.

We’re back to school – be careful of children’s crossings, watch your speed and be patient in bus traffic routes.

It’s a great time to enjoy hiking (Trailkeeper.org), golfing, fishing, the local parks, lakes and our great outdoors. Check dec.ny.gov for open early deer and bear hunting regulations, boundaries, license and safety rules.

Celebrate Sukkot on the 21st. Engage in the free Bethel Woods 10-week ‘Project: Identity Photography’ course for Teens 14-18 yo at the Conservatory, starting on the 21st at 6 p.m. (9/21- Nov 23: Sun 12-4p. and Tues 6-8pm / Application and registration required). Autumn begins on the 22nd. You might want to engage in ‘HulaHoop Fun 4 Adults’ with Heather Davies at the Crawford Library on Wednesday, the 22nd.

The River Ramblers with Stacy Cohen are playing at the Cochecton Pump House on the 23rd. Attend the Chris Stapleton “All American Road Show” with Margo Price and Kendall Marvel at Bethel Woods on Thursday, the 23rd, at 7 p.m.

The buzz around town is the ‘Honey Bee Festival’ happening in Narrowsburg on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. “Shake your Money Maker” as The ‘Black Crowes’ perform with the ‘Texas Gentlemen’ at Bethel Woods on the 25th at 8pm. Check out Rock Hill’s last Farm Market on Saturday from 10-1 p.m. Narrowsburg Union and Barryville’s Markets continue Saturdays, 10-1 p.m. Callicoon’s Market happens every Sunday (11-2p).

The Bethel Woods Art of Wellness program presents ‘Hatha & Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Susan Mendoza (The Chi Hive) on the Field on the 26th at 10 a.m. Attend the Annual Bethel Woods Harvest Fest this Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Festival is free, but there’s a $5 parking fee. Enjoy weekly live music, food truck court, corn maze, activities, a variety of crafts and over eighty regional vendors – including local farmers, artisans, homemade food makers, local spirits and specialty items. PS: Harvest Fest partners with ‘Nourish Your Neighbor’ for the local Shepherd’s Pantry and accepts food donations at the entrance (more drop locations as I am informed). ‘ZZ Top’ takes the Pavilion Stage with the ‘Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band’ at Bethel Woods on Sunday, the 26th at 7 p.m.

Visit the Museum and do a guided docent tour. FYI, the October Bethel Woods Vintage Run Half-Marathon is canceled. FBPlayhouse hosts “Joyride” with Paige Turner on Saturday, the 25th. FBP also offers ‘Beyond the Page-To the Stage’ Fall Sessions for youth 8-17 yo on weekends: 25, 26, 10/2, 3 and 9,10. FMI: 794-1194. Attend the Narrowsburg Union ‘Group Exhibit’. View Kalina’s “Over Time” exhibit at the Laundry King or catch a CAS premiere screening on Zoom of “Not Just Me” on the 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

While we’re able, take the opportunity and be prepared with tickets beforehand: NYC offers the MET-Metropolitan Opera, the NY Philharmonic at Lincoln Center and the “Fall for Dance Festival” at NYCity Center (10/13-24). Three shows, Hamilton, Lion King and Wicked are running, too.
