Blaze at Sacket Lake on Fri.

SACKETT LAKE – At 2 p.m. on Friday, September 23 the Monticello Fire was dispatched to a unknown type fire on Norris Avenue in the Town of Thompson.

Enroute, Engine 22-14 reported a visible column of smoke and requested a second alarm. On arrival 22-14 reported a fully involved working fire in a large commercial structure on the grounds of Camp Adas off Sackett Lake Road.

Engines, tankers and manpower were dispatched from Rock Hill, Forestburgh, Lumberland, White Lake, Smallwood, Swan Lake, Woodridge and Hurleyville to the scene. 

Liberty Fire Department responded with an additional Ladder Truck and Engine. Port Jervis Fire was on standby in Monticello’s station, Wurtsboro Fire was on standby for Rock Hill, White Sulphur Springs Fire standing by for Liberty, Kauneonga Lake standing by for Town of Bethel, and Sparrowbush on standby for Forestburgh and Lumberland.  

Monticello was assisted at the scene by Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and Fire Investigators, Mobilemedic EMS and New York State Electric and Gas for a power cut. 

Traffic around the scene was rerouted by Fire Police.  No injuries were reported.

All units were back in service at 10:46 p.m.
