MONTICELLO — A vacancy remains on the Sunset Lake Local Development Corporation (LDC) Board of Directors, as longtime Sullivan County businessman and EMT, Albee Bockman, has resigned from the board. The board accepted the resignation of one of the original members of the LDC, which was created in 2020, during their meeting on Thursday, July 18.
The Sunset Lake LDC is the management company of the Adult Care Center in Liberty.
At the full board meeting of the County Legislature on Thursday, July 25, District 5 Legislator Cat Scott and District 1 Legislator Matt McPhillips - both LDC board members - introduced a resolution to appoint Barbara McKenny to fill the vacancy left by Bockman.
Matt McPhillips told the Democrat that McKenny sent in a letter regarding the open spot on the board. He also said that she has a family member who is a resident at the Adult Care Center.
“She is knowledgeable and wants to see the Care Center get the best out of the residents of the facility,” he said.
However, there are other people interested in the position, so the Legislature agreed to table the resolution until their August full board meeting on Thursday, August 15. District 4 Legislator Nick Salomone Jr. made the motion to table the resolution which was seconded by District 7 Legislator Joe Perrello and passed with the required five votes.
