Narrowsburg

To the editor:

I am extremely disappointed, to say the least, with [Jeff Bank] closing of the Narrowsburg Branch.

Jeff Bank is a relatively small bank but it is also a community bank which should serve its neighbors. I understand that any business is concerned about the bottom line. I don’t have the numbers but I’ll assume the Narrowsburg branch is “losing money”; however, Jeff Bank is making money overall.

Again, I must mention, Jeff Bank is a community bank meant to serve the community. The community in question is Narrowsburg, a resilient hub of social , artistic and diverse members of Sullivan County.

Your letter [to customers] advises that your Narrowsburg customers can go to the Callicoon branch which is ludicrous, not to mention inconvenient. When I want to use the ATM to make a deposit, I will have to travel to Callicoon or White Lake. Why? Your bottom line not big enough??? I appreciate a business needs to stay in the black, but I am sure the Narrowsburg branch is not putting Jeff Bank in the red.

The decision is crass insult to the community you purport to serve. It shows a callous disregard for all of the people of your community, which is all of Sullivan County
