Brenda “Boo-Boo” C. Benton of Liberty, NY, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Achieve Rehab. and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY.  She was 82.

The daughter of the late Ichabod and Edith Cristine Bruno Benton, she was born July 10, 1940 in Liberty, NY.

Brenda had worked in her younger years as a server on cruise ships for Grace and McCormick Cruise Liners; she traveled all over South America, Russia and Poland.  She settled back in Liberty and worked as a waitress at various locations including Red Barn, Singers, and Bagel-O’s.  Most locals will remember her from working at the Famous Triangle Diner, at one point she thought she owned the place! 

Survivors include her sister, Debbie Benton of Liberty, NY; her brother, Robert “Bear” Benton and his wife Sherry of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Richard Benton, John Benton and Arthur Benton; one sister, Marie Shorten; three nephews, Benjamin Benton, Lee Benton, and Jonathan Benton; one niece, Stacey Benton; and her longtime companion of 40 years, Robert “Scoop” Higgins.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 10 AM to 12 Noon in the Harris funeral home. Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, 2023 at 12 Noon in the Harris funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
