Brian J. O’Leary, 75, from Rock Hill, NY, a retired electrician from IBEW Local Union #363, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17th, with his family at his side. Born in Bayonne, NJ, Brian, along with his family, relocated to Rock Hill after building a house on Wanaksink Lake in 1948.

Stricken with paralysis and confined to a wheelchair and crutches for nearly a decade, advances in medicine cured him by the time he was a teen and he went on to lead a full-life: loving to hunt, fish, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and socializing with his buddies.  He also enjoyed a special-bond with his K9 companions that were never far from his side.

Brian was preceded in life by his parents Jeremiah and Lorraine, as well as his beautiful sister Cheryl. He is survived by his nephew, Kyle Kroeger of Rock Hill, former brother-in-law Kevin Kroeger of Monticello, several cousins, as well as his former wife Cathy of Clayton, NC - who has remained his constant friend throughout the years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22 from 4 to 7 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.  His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23 at 10 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Streets, in Monticello with Fr. Bob Porpora officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.  For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com.
