Callicoon Kiwanis makes Holiday season bright

The Callicoon Kiwanis Club held its Annual Holiday Party last Sunday at Catskill Provisions in Callicoon.

It was the time of year when the Kiwanis Club presents donations to many local organizations serving the youth of the Delaware River Valley.

“Our 75-year-old club has been a champion for the youth of our area and continues to focus its efforts on helping them any way we can,” Callicoon Kiwanis Club President Fred Stabbert III said. “We are delighted by how successful our fundraisers were this year and that we are able to hand out $10,600 in donations to these local organizations.”

Many of the organizations that received the donations were on hand to accept their checks and update Kiwanis on their progress throughout the year.

The Delaware Community Center, Interfaith Outreach United, Delaware Rifle Club, Kingfisher Project and AYSO Soccer all gave updates

The Kiwanis Club holds many fundraisers throughout the year and although 2021 was a challenging time for fundraising the club was able to raise enough funds to meet its gift-giving needs.

Other organizations which benefited from the Callicoon Kiwanis Club’s donations were The Blessed Food Pantry, Garnet Health Center - Grover Hermann Division, College Scholarship Fund, Pediatric Lyme Disease, Red Dog Football, Sullivan West High School Production, Sullivan West Back Pack Program, Sullivan West Drug Task Force, Sullivan West Toy Drive and Boy Scouts.

The Callicoon Kiwanis Club also donated 30 turkeys to the Interfaith Outreach United for their Thanksgiving Food Program and members of the club who are involved in the Literacy Program handed out books to all elementary students at Sullivan West.
