Carl Bruce Klein of Liberty, NY, passed away January 26, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart and perseverance in overcoming life's challenges leaves a beacon of light for his family, friends, and community.

Carl was born October 11, 1946 in Liberty, NY to the late Russell and Katherine Brown Klein. A hunting accident in 1978 left him paralyzed but his passion for the outdoors remained an important part of his life. Carl was a firearms dealer and an avid hunter, teaching those skills and instilling that love in his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching wildlife in his back yard. His limited mobility never hindered his drive and accomplishments.

Carl was proud of his family and his large family garden, which was a labor of love. He improved the garden each year and was extremely generous, sharing his bounty with many family and friends. Carl was well known and loved in the community and enjoyed his daily routine, which included a visit to the diner and a stop at ShopRite. After returning to college as an adult and receiving his Bachelor's Degree from SUNY New Paltz, he successfully operated an accounting and tax business for decades gaining many clients and friends. He was a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 51 years, Christine Cross Klein; his children, Amy Winters, Lyn Klein and Shawn Klein and his wife Chrissy; his grandchildren, Joshua, Heather, and Daniel Winters, Amanda Reyes, Justin and Jacob Klein, and Collin Nietzel; his sisters, Shirley Caulkin and Kim Carlsen; his brothers, Barry Klein and Gary Klein; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and three siblings, Melvin “Dicky” Klein, Kelvin Klein, and Virginia “Ginger” Ferber.

Carl's family is forever grateful for the years of exceptional care provided by Alita Toro and Sullivan County Public Health Nursing.

A short graveside ceremony and burial will be Friday, February 5, 2021 at 3 PM in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY. The Rev. Paul Minton will officiate. Due to the pandemic, there will be no further gathering at this time.

Memorial contributions in Carl's name may be made to Ride2Survive Sullivan County, Inc, PO Box 282, Youngsville, NY 12791.
