ROSCOE – Chapel Field was firing on all cylindars on Monday night as they faced off against Roscoe for their second league match. Roscoe lost the first matchup 56-38 after the Lions put together a strong second half.
In the rematch, a total team effort by Chapel Field propelled them to a 58-34 victory on Monday night.
Chapel Field warmed up on Friday against Tri-Valley, with the Lions defeating the Bears 60-43. Oh my.
The Lions got off to a hot start early, outscoring the Blue Devils 12-5 in the first quarter. Chapel Field settled into their press early and their 2-3 zone kept the Roscoe team on their heels.
The Lions offense exploded in the second quarter as they extended to a 20 point lead before the break. They outscored the Blue Devils 19-6 and took a 31-11 lead into the half.
Roscoe made some adjustments in the third quarter, adding 14 points in what would be their highest scoring frame, but Chapel Field managed to add three more points to their lead by the end of the quarter.
With a 23 point lead and eight minutes to play, Chapel Field was able to coast through the final quarter, outscoring the Roscoe squad 10-9 and completing the 58-34 league victory.
The Lions have yet to lose a league matchup, meanwhile the Blue Devils are sitting at 3-3 in the division with two road games to go.
Anthony Zamenick and Anthony Teipelke led Roscoe with nine points each.
“Chapel Field is playing at a high level that we were unable to match,” Blue Devils Coach Mike Hill said following the game. “Their press and 2-3 zone were very active and effective.”
The Blue Devils traveled to Sullivan West last night and will play against Tri-Valley at SUNY Sullivan tomorrow morning.
