Chocolate peanut butter Halloween bars

If you know me at all, you know my dessert recipes are few and far between – so they have to be easy! You don’t need to be a professional baker to make these easy Halloween treats. These bars require only 7 ingredients.

You’ll need:

¾ cup honey

¼ cup maple syrup

1 ¼ cup creamy peanut butter

3 cups Corn Flakes cereal

2 cups Rice Krispies cereal

8-12 oz semi sweet or dark chocolate, melted

6 oz white chocolate, melted

Candy eyes for decorating

Line a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or coat with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine the corn flakes, Rice Krispies and one cup peanut butter.

Next, combine the honey and maple syrup in a pot or saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Cook the honey and syrup mixture for two minutes, then remove from heat and pour into the cereal and peanut butter into bowl. Stir well.

Spread the mixture into the prepared pan, then place into the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set.  Be sure to pack tightly to ensure your bars stick together!

While the bars are firming up, melt the chocolate in separate bowls: dark chocolate and ¼ cup peanut butter in one, and white chocolate in another.

Remove the bars from the refrigerator and spread the melted dark chocolate on top.

Create a few white chocolate ghosts by spooning a dollop and dragging the spoon to make a ghost shape. Insert two candy eyes and return to the fridge for about 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
