QUEENSBURY, NY – The Catskill Claws are holding firm in 9th place after their fourth event this past weekend. The 4.7-mile course included around 325 feet of elevation change for the high school team. Agatha Ryan earned yet another podium finish, this time for 2nd place in the JV girls category. Her fastest lap time was 28:23. Ryan still leads the entire JV girls category in points after the fourth event, earning a total of 2102, and she leads the second place racer by 26 points.

Nolan Brown led the high school boys team, earning 400 points with a 22nd place finish and a fastest lap time of 33:36. Brown is in 13th overall with 1548 points, sitting right behind teammate Ryan Walsh, who has 1572 points in 12th place.

The middle school course was slightly shorter, being about 3.5 miles long with 275 feet of elevation change per lap. Sylvan Garrelts led in points for the middle school team, earning his fourth 1st place finish of the season in the 7th grade boys category. His total time was 56:31, and was just under 10 minutes faster than second place.

Caitlin Walsh finished fourth in the 8th grade girls category and earned a trip to the podium. Walsh is currently in 2nd place for the season overall with 1933 points.

“This was a fantastic event,” Team Director Keith Stephenson said. “Our young athletes had a great time on the fast fun flowing trails.”

The league championship event in Liberty is June 5, and Keith said, “All of our kids are excited knowing it will be on trails they’re familiar with.”

Volunteers are needed to help make the championship event in Liberty a success.
