After forty years Don Worzel and Ron Lauer, the owners of D+R Garage in Barryville, have retired and sold their highly successful business. If you count the 11 years Don and Ron worked as teenage mechanics at the garage its fifty-one years of providing car maintenance and repair services to the community. According to Patty Lauer, they ran a “family business and treated all of our hundreds of customers like family and now we will miss them as we would miss our own family members.” Through all those decades several well-known community members got their start at the garage including Tom Ebers, Town of Highland Highway Superintendent and Marc Anthony, Highland’s longest serving constable. Don and Ron will be keeping their car towing and snow plowing business and can be reached at 845-701-2898. According to Ron the future sees both doing what they have always loved, working on their street racing cars, hot rods and classic cars and finally having the time to attend and participate in local car shows. Pictured are Patty Lauer, Ron Lauer, Don Worzel and mechanic Rick Gannon.
