ELLENVILLE –– The Comets boys soccer team had the first taste of playoff action in the county as they traveled to Ellenville to take on the Blue Devils.

The game was pretty even early on, but as the time started to tick off in the second half, and Ellenville had already amassed a 3-0 lead, the goals started to rain down. Fallsburg was unable to get the ball onto Ellenville’s side, and with just over six minutes left, Ellenville scored on a penalty kick to make the score 4-0. Very quickly after that, the Blue Devils tagged the Comets for three more goals as time continued to tick down.

The final goal, within 30 seconds of the final buzzer, was a statement maker ahead of Ellenville’s matchup against top-seeded Marlboro. Fallsburg, though, will be headed back home after their early playoff departure, and they will have a chance to regroup and hopefully appear in the playoffs again next season.
