Winter is a great time for families to utilize their public library for fun programs, quiet reading, and early literacy in a warm, welcoming environment. It’s an even better time to utilize all of our virtual offerings such as Kanopy, Libby, and more. Reach out to your library to find out which virtual resources are available to you all from the warm comfort of your home. We have tons to offer!

December in Sullivan County libraries is full of exciting holiday programs! In Fallsburg, we will have our Take and Make Family Ornament kits available for pickup starting December 5. We ask that you call (845) 436-6067, ext. 102 to reserve a kit.

On Friday, December 16, at Livingston Manor Free Library, they will be hosting a Holiday Gathering Variety Show with music, singing, skits, and refreshments.

On Saturday, December 17 at 10:30 a.m. kids are welcome to Livingston Manor Free Library for Holiday Cookie Decorating.

Liberty Public Library will have Hot Cocoa and Holiday Card Making for kids on December 12 at 3 p.m.

On December 14 at 7 p.m. hop onto Zoom for Chocolate Crinkle Christmas Cookies & Santa’s Gingerbread Snaps. In this Holiday Cookie Workshop, learn the ins and outs of making the perfect, melt in your mouth, Chocolate Crinkle Cookie as well as chewy and crispy Gingersnap Cookies that’ll keep your friends and family constantly coming back for more! Email lib@rcls.org to get the Zoom link for this program.

The Mamakating Library friends group will be offering gift-wrapping December 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kick back and enjoy some cookies and cocoa and do some browsing while your gifts are wrapped for you. The friends are offering this service for donations to the organization.

In Western Sullivan Public Library, Create a PopArt Selfie at our Delaware Free Branch in Callicoon on December 13 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Several will be displayed in the windows at the library.

Holiday Card Making at the Jeffersonville Branch on December 21 at 6 p.m. There will be plenty of winter break fun for the kids including bake-offs, escape room scenarios, and a craft explosion. Visit the library’s calendar at WSPLonline.org for more information and to register for these events.

Be sure to check in with your local library to see if they’ll be hosting any programs.

From the Sullivan County Libraries Director’s Corner, we wish you a happy healthy holiday season and we thank you for your continued support.
