ARKVILLE - On August 2, the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) Board of Directors approved funding for several projects in the Septic Program, two Flood Hazard Mitigation Implementation Program grants, and two economic development loans.

Eleven homeowners in 10 towns in Delaware, Greene, and Ulster Counties were awarded reimbursement grants for septic repairs or replacements to fix current septic systems that are failing or likely to fail. Construction will be completed by contractors of the homeowner’s choosing. Homeowners experiencing septic issues are encouraged to contact CWC directly.

The Board approved two projects under the Flood Hazard Mitigation Implementation Program. The first is to Village of Hunter for a feasibility study to relocate the Village’s firehouse from out of the 100 year floodplain. The second grant is to a property owner in the Town of Ashland, Greene County to design property mitigation measures to elevate and floodproof a home in the Town of Ashland. Property owners in hamlets and villages in the West of Hudson Watershed are encouraged to contact CWC for grants for projects to mitigate future flood damage.

The CWC Board also approved two loans from the Catskill Fund for the Future economic development fund. The first is to Franks Septic, LLC to purchase a septic hauling business in the Town of Middletown. The second loan to Ladew Corners, LLC will provide funding for the renovation and reopening of the former La Duchesse Anne in the Town of Shandaken. The Catskill Fund for the Future is a revolving loan program for businesses in West of Hudson Watershed Towns. Interested businesses should contact CWC.
