DaHunt for Cure Event Raises $238K

MONTGOMERY — DaHunt for the Cure has announced that this year’s sporting clays charity shooting event was the most successful in the history of the fundraiser. The amount of $238,000 was raised for Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations.

DaHunt founders Charlie and Diane Medici hosted the event on September 15-16 at Ten Mile River Preserve in Dover Plains. There were 220 people in attendance, the highest number since its inception.

Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie was named as the event’s top beneficiary. The 175-year-old organization provides a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowers at-risk children and families in the Hudson Valley.

Since its establishment, DaHunt for the Cure has distributed more than 1 million dollars in grants. This year, Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, Friends of Karen, Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center, Somers Lions Club, Gigi’s Playhouse, and Kids for Kids Foundation also received donations from the fund.

DaHunt for the Cure was inspired when the Medici’s nephew, Peter, was diagnosed with leukemia. Peter is now an extremely healthy college graduate in his 30s and is working for the family business as a project manager. The Medici’s continue to honor his battle and raise money to support all those who are still fighting today. DaHunt for the Cure became a component fund of the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan in 2017.

The Foundation has significantly increased the region’s charitable capital and has empowered donors to make a profound difference in the quality of life in our region. Since its inception, CFOS, with its donors and fund representatives, has awarded more than $25 million in grants and scholarships. To learn more, visit cfosny.org.
