Daniel “Danny” Schwartz, a resident of (South Fallsburg, NY), passed away peacefully on March 29 in his home in South Fallsburg. He was 101 years old. The son of Luis Schwartz and Rose Pantel (Schwartz), Daniel was born on June 16, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY.

Daniel was a Captain and Flight Surgeon in the Air Force while he attended Tulane University to get his medical degree. He also was a member in the Army during part of his time attending college in Arkansas and at Tulane. He was a pillar of South Fallsburg as a doctor on Main Street for about 45 years, serving the community, hotels, and many bungalow colonies that characterized the Catskills. He was known for his no-nonsense bedside manner, and for his sense of humor and all-in commitment to his loved ones, hobbies and passions. He was an aviator, even building his own airplane in the basement of his home (a Starduster biplane), and acquiring aerobatics and instrumental flight licenses. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who also loved carpentry and mechanics. He also loved playing piano, painting, and time spent with his family during many a Sunday lunch. He also loved all of his dogs, who were forever on his lap and in his presence. He was a man of diverse interests, and a never-ending curiosity about life. 

Daniel is survived by his sons Ivan Schwartz and Marlin Schwartz, his granddaughters Susie Schwartz, Anabel Schwartz, and great-grandsons Hudson and Diego Schwartz. 

Daniel was predeceased by: his son Darryl Schwartz, his wife Betty Schwartz, and his Mother and Father Rose Pantel (Schwartz) and Luis Schwartz.

Services will be arranged by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, with a graveside service at Temple Sholom at1:00 Sunday, April 2.
