Daniel J. Wright, Jr. of Liberty, NY, a retired Detective for the City of New York Police Department and a longtime area resident died Friday, October 25, 2024 at his home. He was 76.
The son of the late Daniel J. Sr., and Marion Doyle Wright, he was born September 7, 1948 in Manhattan, NY.
Daniel had served as a Village of Liberty Trustee, he had been a partner in Wawanda Investigation and Security Company and had been a firearms instructor. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator, building guns, collecting antique guns, and flying airplanes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Anita B. Frerichs Wright, at home; one daughter, Kimberly Wright of Liberty, NY; one sister, Eleanor Wright of Ridge, NY; one brother, Gerard Wright and his wife Karen of Long Island, NY; two grandchildren, Isis Ava Wright of Jeffersonville, NY and Haden Wright of Liberty, NY; and one nephew, Edward Kaufold.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main Street, Liberty, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
