Dorothy Veronica Chaboty of Neversink, a retired domestic engineer and former resident of New York City, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty. She was 91.
The daughter of the late Walter Fiktarz and Jennie Budnick Fiktarz, she was born October 27, 1933 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Joseph M. Chaboty who predeceased her on March 10, 2009.
Dorothy graduated Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn and attended Bronx Community College. She was a bookkeeper for George Macy Book Publishers and worked as a sales clerk in Bloomindales on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
She is survived by her son: Eric Chaboty and his wife Tammi of Neversink; two grandchildren: Savannah and Wyatt and two great grandcats Guava and Goose.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10 from 1:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11 at 11am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street in Liberty with Fr. Ed Bader officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Liberty.
