It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved son, brother, father, grandson, uncle, cousin, and friend. Drew Philip Allees, born November 14,1986, passed away at home in Hurleyville, NY on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 36 years young.

A simple man, Drew never asked for much. He worked closely with his brother, Evan, at Pickled Owl Gastropub, where he was able to cook, a passion they both learned at a young age through their parents, Gary and Karen.  He showed up every day, worked hard, was a key member of the restaurant family and will be sorely missed by both staff and customers.

When Drew wasn’t cooking creations in the kitchen, he enjoyed skiing, hunting, and golfing with his dad and fishing on the St. Lawrence River. He was a family man who loved his nieces and nephews with all his heart. “Uncle Drew” has left a beacon of light for those whom he loved. We will find comfort in the fond memories of his earthly presence and honor his memory in love and gratitude until we see him again.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Amelia Addeline Allees; paternal grandparents, Edward and Catherine Allees; cousin, York Illing; and aunts, Susan Van Etten Kunz and Anita Allees.

He is survived and missed by his parents, Gary Allees and Karen Van Etten; brother, Evan, and his wife, Brynn, their four children, Harper, Levi, Silas, and Henley; brother, Jared, and his wife, Cassie, their two children, Nolynd and Ariya; maternal grandparents, Richard and Geraldine Van Etten; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Let us remember Drew as the kind, intelligent man he was, who loved his family and wanted nothing more than to overcome the distress of hardships in his life. Let us not define him by his struggle with addiction. He may not have lived a perfect life, but he lived a good one. One that we will cherish and continue to remember. Drew, you will be forever missed by those who were lucky enough to know you.

There will be no services at this time. Drew will be cremated and a memorial will be planned in the near future. Please honor Drew’s life by speaking out about recovery and help chip away at the stigma of addiction. Every conversation has an impact. Every life matters.
