On Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, Elaine B. Kurtz Emmett passed away with her loving son by her side. Elaine was born October 26th, 1941, in Oakland, New Jersey to the late Byrnes and Gwendolyn Kurtz. She is survived by one son Darryl Emmett and his fiancé Carissa Kohler, her children Aiden and Kiley and her granddaughters Karleigh Ann Emmett and Riley Rose Emmett, who she simply adored and were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother Joel Kurtz, his wife Linda, a niece and nephew, as well as one great-niece and great-nephew.
ln the 1960s, Elaine flew Bell Helicopters for the New Jersey State Park Service. It was while working as an Emergency Dispatcher that she met her husband Robert D. Emmett and the two were later married in June of 1977. In 1979, Elaine moved to Hortonville, NY to raise her son and work in the Delaware Valley Central School as an aide for many years. She was an avid volunteer with the Hortonville Fire House and could always be found assisting the Department in any way she could. She was a simple person who enjoyed the sun shining down on her face, and was often found working in her gardens, working on projects for her home, the Hortonville Fire Department and church. She was crafty and never let anything go to waste. She was the type of person that would much rather take something old and make it new with a little tender loving care than go out and buy it new. Her creative ability was impressive, and her time, attention and patience shined through in all of her projects.
A special thank you to everyone who has been there for us during this difficult time. Your stories and thoughtful words have meant a great deal.
